Overview

As a minimum, an electronic drum kit should offer a realistic drum response with a degree of technology to justify its purchase. With the DTX6KS-X, you have a superbly playable drum set that faithfully reproduces acoustic drum behaviour. This is thanks to Yamaha’s exhaustive investigations into how drums respond when they’re struck. The original Yamaha TCS (Textured Cellular Silicone) head surfaces go a long way in recreating these nuances, and when you add the DTX-PRO Drum Module’s powerful technology to the mix, you have an outstanding instrument on your hands.

Limitless creative possibilities

The DTX-PRO Drum Module’s Kit Modifier technology offers revolutionary audio modification with its Ambience, Compression and Effect knobs. This is the result of decades of Yamaha’s sound creation expertise condensed into a trio of knobs at your fingertips. An exciting prospect. Accounting for a wide range of tonal possibilities, these effects allow raw, natural-sounding acoustic drums, live performance drum sounds, kits heavy on FX and compression and so much more. With the DTX-PRO Drum Module by your side, the drummer gets to define the kit, and not the other way round.

Invaluable learning functions

Every practice and learning function you’ve known and loved with previous DTX models are pre-loaded on the DTX-PRO Module. As well as the sophisticated programmable metronome, the module offers a comprehensive recorder function for capturing your performances. Its 10 training functions are ideal for players of all standards, while the 37 training songs allow you to learn and master a variety of genres. Beginners and professionals alike will find the DTX6 training functions a useful aid for daily practice, whether you’re learning afresh or simply keeping up your chops. The DTX-PRO even comes with a download code for the latest version of Cubase AI, the powerful music production software.

Ultra precise expression

Each of the DTX6K3-X’s snare, ride and crash pads benefit from triple-zone technology, which means they trigger different sounds depending on where exactly they’re struck. Just like an acoustic snare drum, the XP80 Snare Pad can be played with three articulations – head, rimshot or sidestick – while the cymbals offer bell, bow and edge triggering as well as choke. The ride pad also features clever positional sensing – reacting to strikes in different areas and faithfully recreating the audio response of a real ride cymbal through intricate audio processing. Additionally, the KP90 Kick Pad also guarantees an authentic response at both quiet and loud levels with its multi-layered head material.

Connectivity for days

Every kit in the DTX6 series is equipped with MIDI and USB, along with the standard audio outputs. The USB port can be used to transfer audio data directly to a DAW, as well as transmitting your performance as MIDI data to control other sound modules, plug-ins, or for external editing. Audio recordings can also be made directly to a USB flash drive for convenience. The free Yamaha Rec’n’Share app makes sharing your best work with the world easy: simply connect the DTX6K3-X via USB to a compatible iOS or Android device and record drum performances as audio or video. Rec’n’Share provides extensive audio editing features such as time-stretching the audio recordings and changing the mix of video recordings. It also gives you the option of directly uploading videos to social media platforms from the comfort of your drum stool.
